Let me let you into a secret, I have never met anyone who was not capable of doing better things with their life. I have never met anyone who was not capable of running a business. I have met many people who will spend their lives working, and subjugating their lives, for other people. Why is your talent being used to enhance someone else's life – is that how you want to spend your life?.
 
Let me tell you another secret, most businesses are run badly. Let me re-phrase that, most people who run businesses are unfocussed, do not plan, do not think and remind me of people playing a strange video game where they hurtle along in no controlled direction grabbing what they can.
 
So why are you not working for yourself. Self-confidence lacking, not sure my ideas are good enough, how can I compete with experienced business people, money.
 
There is no scarcity of opportunity to make a living at what you love; there's only a scarcity of resolve to make it happen.

Ah! Money – the root of all poor career decisions. Stop, think, what could you do better than anyone else and better than you are doing at the moment, and I am not just thinking of those who do not have a business. For those of you self-satisfied people running your own business, 96% of businesses fail to achieve even a reasonable return for the owners.
 
But let us remember one thing – running your own business is the only way to earn money from equity. If you plan your business properly you will succeed and if you succeed you will create equity and that represents a far greater return than anything else you could earn.
 
And it is not difficult – it is not difficult to write your plan, you have the knowledge. For those of you running your own business, stop, how would you run your business tomorrow if you could start again, re-write your plan, re-plan your life.
 
If your life is serving your business, you are slowly committing suicide, if your business is serving your life – oh what a thing, what a wonderful thing!.
 
You are already well on the way to producing your business plan. Every working day - including weekends - you are thinking, living and formulating your strategy and tactics. You are the epicentre of the venture; this is not just a business plan, it's your future.
 
But.
 
Every day of my life I hear, but. To me it represents the thing most people speak out of. Stop saying but, right now. Ignore but, do not entertain but, when but knocks under your door, say "sorry, can I ignore you just for a while – I'll get back to you", because you will get back to them.
 
But.
 
Dealing with buts, when you have a plan is easier. But is still there, of course it is, but now you have a plan and but becomes, not a negative, but a means of finding the positive. But people may not always want my product – then I must find a way of using the time when they are still buying to prepare. But I have no money, then I need to plan my business so I do not need it, or I can convince someone to give me money.
 
But, look at all the problems I currently have. What can you I do about them. Re-plan, re-think and stop making decisions about your old failed business, start making them about your new business.
 
The challenge therefore is simple; prepare a plan that will raise finance. There are three simple stages:
 
1. Think about your plan.
2. Write your plan.
3. Sell your plan.
 
Begin somewhere. You cannot build a reputation on what you intend to do.
